An incredible Rehealed Herkimer Diamond Quartz Crystal from a private claim on Hickory Hill in Fonda, NY.
It is hard to tell from the photographs just how incredible this specimen is. It is unlike any other Herkimer Diamond that I have seen. To me personally it seems reminiscent of high elevation Alpine Quartz from the Swiss Alps more so than it does a Herkimer Diamond. The clarity is breathtaking in the largest crystal termination. What really makes this specimen unique is the fact it once broke and recrystallized or rehealed. On top of that the Crystal encountered some growth interference. The end result is a natural work of art. It tells a story that gets more interesting the longer you look at the intricate details. Over tens of millions of years of growth and regrowth there is a 95% recrystallization on all but a small area where another crystal was once attached. Pictures dont do it justice.
